Taken on a cloudy late afternoon in mid-June, the low tide exposed these rocks and created the tiny rivers flowing through sand at Hammonasset Beach in Madison, Connecticut. “Hammonasset” comes from the Native American word meaning, “where we dig holes in the ground”. How appropriate considering each summer thousands of kids dig holes in the sand to build sand castles or bury their mother or father in the sand.
